It seems that there are .... categories...of "green energy". Apparently having the joke of the Left Coast (California) cave to the enviro's demands for power derived from non-consumable, non-polluting sources is not enough for some of our little green friends. Not so much.

The knothole-rapists (TM) at the Western Watersheds Project have sued the US Department of the Interior, the Bureau of Land Management and the Fish and Wildlife Commission for their approval of Oakland-based Brightsource Energy's 370 MW Ivanpah SOLAR PLANT. The WWP has their collective panties in a bunch because they don't think the agencies named in the suit (along with the individual Heads of those agencies and their staffers who are ALSO named in the suit) did not exercise enough due diligence to protect ...... migratory birds, the desert tortoise, desert bighorn sheep, groundwater resources and "rare plants".

"In an ill-conceived rush to accommodate massive renewable energy projects ... the federal defendants precipitously approved unnecessarily destructive energy development of the California Desert Conservation Area without first conducting adequate environmental reviews." reads the complaint, in part. (emphasis mine). This, despite the fact that Brightsource had ALREADY bought up thousands of additional acres of desert land to provide habitat for the poor lil' critterses....to placate a different lawsuit-happy Environmentalist concern (the Center for Biological Diversity).

So let me see......according to the Church of Gore doctrine...... we nassssty humanses are destroying the planet with our raping and pillaging fossil-fuel and nuclear power plants and need to IMMEDIATELY!!! abandon those in favor of sunshine, gentle breezes and perhaps unicorn farts. In fact, we may already be too late. Even so, we need to begin RIGHT NOW!!! But when a company actually tries to meet the shrill demands of the unhinged disciples of Gore, they (and the regulatory agencies involved) are presumed to be engaged in a .... how did that go? Oh yeah, an ... "ill-conceived rush".

Well there you have it .... trying to meet the MOST URGENT!!! demands of the Church of Gore is "ill-conceived". Thanks, Knothole Rapists(TM), for admitting what I've been saying all along! Glad to have ya on board!

Since I had a couple of hours to kill..I took a gander at that Zeitgeist (or should that be "Shite-heist"??) Yeah..I'm THAT bored....lol.

In the absolutely metric tonnes of craptastic atheist, truther, anti-fed conspiracy dogma I noticed a couple of interesting things....

First, as a general indictment of the whole sorry "film", they spend the first third of the movie PROVING that all religion, BUT MOST ESPECIALLY CHRISTIANITY, is a big ol' lie...and ALL of them pretty much are rip offs of the zodiac. Then, in the segment on how the evil banking cabal is out to rule the world, they claim that some "film-maker" was told by one of the minor Rockefellers, some 11 months prior to 9-11, that there was going to be a big event which would allow the US to go to war in Afghanistan, Iraq and Venezuela....and the ultimate goal of all this chicanery is to have EVERY PERSON IN THE WORLD implanted with an RFID chip which would be "coded" to allow it to be used as money!!!!

Whaaaa?!? Ummmmm....ok....movie-dudes...did you not FINISH READING the Bible all the way to the end?? Now you're telling me that the ultimate goal of the evil "shadow government" is to fulfill one of the main prophecies in the Bible.....which you claim to be a made-up book of ripped-off zodiacal mumbo-jumbo?!? For the purpose of...... Well, since the movie doesn't actually address this conundrum, I guess just for sheer perversity?! Irony?!? Just to screw with us?

In another segment, wherein the director tries to convince us that EVERYTHING we know about what goes on in the world is a fabrication woven by the media at the behest of the evil overlords....the only news media shown on the screen is.....FOXNEWS!!!! So, given the Idiot Killer was a heee-yooooge fan of this movie (one might even go so far as to say he was a "cultist"), and the movie visually equates FOX with "This mass media outlet lies through it's teeth about the world you live in"....how was he influenced by "the RIGHT" again?!?

In between they spend a LOOOOOTTTTT of time rehashing the usual "Truther"-isms. ZZZZZZ!

The "conclusion" of the film is typical hippie pablum, replete with all the usual pantheon of 20th century "great men"....The Ghandi, MLK and.....John Lennon?!?!?!

Rep. Alan Grayson represents the 8th Congressional District here in Florida, which includes parts of Marion, Lake and Orange counties, including the metro Orlando area. He is being challenged by Dan Webster, a former State Representative and Senator, small-business owner and Tea-Party conservative. RealClear Politics has this race leaning toward Webster by around 7 points, for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that Grayson is a smarmy, semi-literate wanna-be tough guy who instantly grates on the nerves. Not to mention an unapologetic shill for the Pelosi-Reid-Obama team.

So Mr. Grayson decides a new attack ad is in order and puts this out....

OH CRAP!!! Looks like ol' Dan is sunk. There he is using those verses in public...the ones that talk about women submitting to their husbands that all the biblically illiterate get all pissy about, claiming that this is PROOF! that Christianity is anti-woman, misogynistic and patriarchal. But hold on a second.....let's give Mr. Webster the opportunity to respond. Or let's at least look at the video this damning evidence was culled from.

Whaaazzzat?!? He was actually urging men NOT to concentrate on those verses, but to focus on the verses immediately preceding which teach men to cherish their wives, even as Christ cherished the Church...to the point of dying for her if need be?! He was actually promoting selflessness on the part of the husband in the marital relationship? He wasn't actually coaching a bunch of neanderthal Church men on how to force their wommenfolk into de facto slavery? Huh? Whod've thunk Alan Grayson would've distorted the truth like that?

Makes ya wonder what else he and his cronies have been "distorting"...doesn't it. You know it's bad when Contessa Brewer and Anderson Cooper are busting your chops and calling you on your sleaziness.

Here's a cautionary tale for all about the mad rush to replace eeeevil fossil-fueled power plants with those that will exhibit a much smaller "carbon footprint"....from Merry Olde England no less.

"The Thanet wind farm will milk us of billions"

Thus screams the headlines of an article by one Mr. Christopher Booker in today's online edition of the London Telegraph. It seems that the UK, with much fanfare and back-patting, opened the world's largest wind farm of the coast of Kent last week. Their Climate Change Secretary (!)
slobbered all over the knothole-rapist aspect of this endeavor in his speechifying.

Seems like there is a problem though. As is too often the case when policy is built around political correctness rather than solid fact, the hype far exceeds the actuality. The British government, who is set to pay over 1.2 billion pounds to the Swedish owners of the wind farm over then next several years, have been hoodwinked...flim-flammed....bamboozled. Instead of using facts, say by hiring their OWN engineers to look at the project, the government just based everything on the BUILDER'S claims. The builder, Vattenfall, claimed the wind farm's three 100 MW turbines would generate a total of 300 MW of electricity...roughly enough to power 200,000 to 240, 000 homes. And it will.....on the rare occasion that the wind is blowing at design velocity. Which, it turns out, isn't all that often. Data from last year shows that the farm's delivered power at 26% of rated capacity for the year.

Which is what I've been saying about these "alternative' power sources that the knothole-rapists have sold as the salvation of America's energy and economic future. They just cannot produce the amount of power required by a modern industrial, comfort-driven society reliably. The wind doesn't always blow as hard as the guys with the slide rules and pocket protectors decided it needed to blow for a plant to produce a given amount of energy. The sun doesn't shine as much as it needs to...you know..things like clouds, storms and that little period of absolutely no sunshine we like to call night! So any call to replace all of our fossil-fueled power with these sorts of sources is either woefully misinformed (stupid really) or disingenuous. They either don't know it's not feasible, or they don't care...since depopulation is the real goal off many of these jack-wagons!

For the cost to the British tax-slaves of this ONE wind farm, which will produce about a quarter of the power the government was counting on, they could have gotten an entire new nuclear power plant, which would have delivered 13 times the amount of energy that this plant can deliver on it's best day. And the nuclear plant would have been able to deliver it day-in, day-out, rain or shine, breezy or calm...in other words reliably! I know I'd be pissed if I was a British tax-payer.

The take-away is that we over here in the US need to learn from debacles like this, not repeat them. If it makes you feel better to supplement the reliable power provided by fossil fuels and nuclear with these costly, trendy, uber-chic "green" sources....go right ahead and do that. But leave the decision up to the consumer...not some functionally retarded "legisleech" (to swipe a phrase from my friend Nicki at http://thelibertyzone.com/). Mandating a certain level of "renewable" generation capacity only ensures that EVERYONE's electricity bill goes up. Make those who really want to put their money where their mouth is as far as saving our fragile little planet put up or shut up. Give them the option to pay the added cost of the "green" power, but don't make me subsidize their "Gaea-guilt". Betcha not too many are willing to pony up.

But...the article does shine light on one bright spot in this whole sorry mess. The Thanet Wind Farm will create jobs..."green" ones at that! Yessiree...a whopping 21 permanent jobs will be created. Wonder how many jobs that nuke plant would've created?

I'm surfing on over to USA Today to do the daily crossword and my gaze just happens to fall on this catchy headline....

"Would Oklahoma City have opposed Okla21?"

Wondering with half my brain (cuz the other half was already gearing up for said crossword puzzle) if there was some interesting new law on the books in OK or something, I made the mistake of clicking on the link to the "opinion" piece by one Serene Jones

A side note here...Serene...REALLY?!?! Parents hippie much, sweetie? Or maybe they envisioned the noble career of "exotic dancer" for you! Either way....Serene?!?! OOPS apparently it's the REVEREND DOCTOR Serene Jones, 16th President of the Union Theological Seminary, an independent, multi-denominational seminary dating back to the early 1800s. Still no word on whether the REV DOC has exceed the parents expectations.....

Ok..back to the issue at had; to whit, Serene is a frackin moron..and not in the good way! Apparently the REVDOC has decided that the position of the Union Theological Seminary on the "Ground Zero Mosque" controversy needs to be known. It is the reasoned and learned opinion of said seminary that all of us stupid provincial racists need to get over our Islamophobia and embrace the victory mosque because like, if you close your eyes really tight and really, really, really think about it....why 9-11 is JUST like the OKC bombing! I'll not rehash the entire bit of drivel here, but will provide some of the more interesting bits.....along with my own cogent analysis.

The opening statement is ripe with libtardation...

"Rancor surrounding the proposed Park51 community center in New York City is a painful indication of how little progress America has made in healing the national wound created on Sept. 11, 2001."

No Serene, America would be just fine with the healing process if numb-nutz like you didn't insist we keep allowing the attackers to rip the scab off and pour alcohol in the wound all the time. Just sayin'.

The REVDOC next goes on to chronicle the fact that in the immediate aftermath of 9-11 "the majority" of the worlds 1.5 Billion Muslims were outspoken critics of the terror attacks. And that somehow us racist 'murricans not only wrongly equate Islam with terrorists, but also lots of us hick-stains think our current president bows to the east 5 times a day. Since the REVDOC herself is recently relocated to the Big Apple from OKC, she "feels NYC's pain" so to speak. She too remembers a terrorist attack on her city and that act's aftermath. The only problem is her memory is faulty. The "majority" of the world's Muslims did NOT vehemently condemn the attacks. The only thing other Muslims officially condemned was the US for "causing" the attacks in the first place with our imperialism and misguided foreign policy. Oh and our warmongoling ways!

As far as throwing the "and alot of silly Americans think President Hopey Changitude is a Muslim" thing in there, it was done just to show how ignorant the average Joe really is. Serene ought to realize (being the head of a theological seminary and all) that whatever BHO's true religion...it ain't Christian by any stretch of the imagination.

Then she veers truly into nutso-land.

Next she wants us to take an trip back with her and imagine a series of hypotheticals. I'll let her weave her fairy-tale magic...

"Imagine we are back in 2004, nine years after Timothy McVeigh perpetrated what at the time was the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Let's extend the analogy, too, and pretend that angry misunderstandings about McVeigh's Christian beliefs have metastasized into animosity toward anyone who professes Christianity, and even toward those who just "seem like" Christians. As the trauma of McVeigh's bombing lingers in people's hearts and minds, blatant slurs about Christians are made in the news media by elected officials and by religious leaders. Christianity, we are told, is a violent religion at its core, doing more harm than good.
Now, push this upside-down scenario one more step. Imagine the Christian churches in Oklahoma City are working hard to counter this "anti-Christian" attitude, and one particularly progressive group decides what's needed is a new youth and community center. "

Say What, Princess? First, by inviting to her readers to "imagine", "pretend" and "extend the analogy", the REVDOC is telling us that the two events she is attempting to compare have nothing in common! And her memory fails her yet again, since there are a couple of flaws with her musings...

First, she rambles about Timothy McVeigh's "Christian Beliefs" as though he detonated the rental-truck-bomb whilst quoting from the Bible he held firmly in his sweaty little palm. Let's let Mr. McVeigh himself weigh in on his belief system...

"In a recorded interview with Time magazine[80] McVeigh professed his belief in "a god", although he said he had "sort of lost touch with" Catholicism and "I never really picked it up, however I do maintain core beliefs." also....

"The Guardian reported that McVeigh wrote a letter to them claiming to be an agnostic and that he did not believe in a hell" .

Furthermore, he also once professed to believe that the universe was guided by natural law, energized by some universal higher power that showed each person right from wrong if they paid attention to what was going on inside them. And that "Science is my religion".

Now I'm no head of an independent, multi-denominational theological seminary, but I'm pretty sure these beliefs fall outside the basic "Christian" doctrine....and the holder of these beliefs could in no way be considered a "devout" Christian.

In contrast, the 19 ISLAMIC fellows who carried out the 9-11 attacks were devout in their faith, mainstream in their doctrines (at least if you read their "holy book" for yourself ) and DID voice the preferred Islamic rhetoric while killing thousands...come to think of it...so were those who planned and financed the whole thing, and those "few" immoderate Muslims who celebrated the atrocity. So sorry Serene, I can't stretch my mind far enough to encompass this load of BS....

Come to think of it, I remember hearing about the authorities issuing an APB on a couple of gentlemen of swarthy, middle-eastern descent in the immediate aftermath of the explosion at the Murrah building. An APB which was soon cancelled...because after all, the OKC bomber was home-grown and totally devoid of influence from Central Asian provocateurs....right?

You guys might want to check out a little dissenting opinion on this "fact" . I highly recommend a book called "The Third Terrorist" by Jayna Davis. Ms. Davis, a TV reporter from Oklahoma, credibly links eyewitness accounts, evidentiary trails and avenues of inquiry dropped like a hot potato soon after the "official" version of the bombing came into focus upon McVeigh's capture. Shockingly, the trail leads right back to ..... Central Asiatic adherents of a certain religion...... told ya you'd be shocked. Of course, all of Ms. Davis' evidence and the conclusions drawn from it has been "officially disproven"....and by that I mean we're told it never happened....and you can't see the source documentation because ....uh....it's lost?

Hmmmmm...maybe I was wrong....maybe the OKC attack does have something tangible in common with the attacks on 9-11.

Some ginormous con, usually a non-Caucasian one at that, to further the racist genital-size myth, stalked up to the front of the room and told the boys how he was going to make them his "woman" if they ended up in jail? Generations of young males were prevented from turning to a life of crime by the simple fact that their sphincters never did really relax after that day!

Now Congress had to go ruin that! The Prison Rape Elimination Act? What's it's short name? The Jim McGreevey Dating Act? Now what do we threaten our young men with to keep them on the straight and narrow? Shoot, what with the free college educations, and the deluxe cable packages complimenting the Gold's Gym quality exercise facilities in most prisons, jail is becoming an attractive housing option for today's urban youth. Especially if he has his sights set on a career in the "music" industry!

Well, I suppose given the large numbers of ex-lawmakers that end up behind bars, this could be chalked up to self-preservation.

I just wonder if Barney Frank was the chairman of the panel?

Okay..I've had time to muddle through the odious piece of treason the Administration has submitted to the UN, and will now share some random thoughts.

First, and foremost.....any candidate running on the Right side of the ticket that doesn't use this to HAMMER his/her opponent is a complete idiot! Don't give me the "but my opponent had NOTHING to do with this" crap. If your opponent is a Democrat....they support...hell they aspire to join ... this regime!

(Yes...I realize that I'm a big ol' rascist for calling the Administration the "r" word....and I could care less...like being called a rascist means anything anymore!)

HAMMER the point home to your constiuentcy...they'll make the connection.

"Hey there Martha, that there Re-Publican fella was talkin' about how Obama's State Department ratted us out to the UN....and lookee here...I just Googled it and he was tellin' the truth! Do you suppose we should NOT vote for ANOTHER Democrat? Seems to me there's too many of 'em up in DC as it is."

Trust me...they'll get it!

Ok now on to the meat of the matter.

Uh....isn't one of the major causes of the housing crash the fact that several previous Democrat Administrations were "not satisfied" that minorities owned fewer houses than whites, as a percentage of each's population? Wasn't that what the CRA and all that lender intimidation by ACORN was all about? Thought so...

And, at the reisk of being all rascist-y again.... could the abysmal high school graduation rates among the above-listed minority groups have something to do with the subsequent unemployment numbers?

Moving on...

Under the heading "Fairness, equality, and women" we find this....

Notice when the last meeting was held....2000.....wonder why we didn't have any meetings with these commies since then? Yet another reason that I miss President Bush!

Apparently the DoJ has themselves a slinky, sexy new website. Gone are the old, jingoistic Stars and Stripes motif, deemed "shtick from the Ashcroft days" that "was a bit much for an agency that isn't supposed to be political," In its place..

Sexy...no? So elegant in basic black, with the golden medallion accent. What could possibly be wrong with this?

Well look a little closer at that quotation running across the upper margin....

Nifty little quote eh? Wonder which of our Founding Fathers...or luminary of jurisprudence penned that one...although it doesn't really sound like something the guys who declared that our inalienable rights were bestowed on us by a Creator would say.... hmmm! Who indeed could've penned this, and why would it be the new "slogan" for the DoJ?

I can answer the who. Meet C. Wilfred Jenks. Never heard of him you say? Don't feel bad...not even the almighty wikipedia has heard enough about him to rate his own entry. However here is what I was able to dig up, with the help of the evil info-overlord Google and the folks at the American Spectator.

Seems Mr. Jenks was a "progressive" lawyer, of British birth, who was leading figure of the "international law" movement back in the 1930s. This is the group that advocated for "workers rights" and sought to impose a global, common law. Most telling, Jenks was a long-time member, and eventually the Director General, of the U.N.'s International Labour Organization.
As director, Jenks was responsible for putting the first Soviet in place as a senior member, and with fostering the environment which allowed the UN to grant "observer status" to the PLO. This environment also emboldened the UN to begin it's continuing anti-Israel bias. Because of the leftward leanings of the ILO, the US (one of the signatory parties) eventually withdrew its membership in that organization in the mid-1970s.

So the creative minds hired by the DoJ couldn't find a suitable quote about the law from one of our American jurists, or political writers...it had to go with an obscure British communist? One who agitated for a "global common law" which would have preeminence over national laws? Thar's what they came up with? And apparently this was vetted at the highest levels in the DoJ and at the White House.....and approved!

So there is the "who". I'll leave you to form your own conclusions as to "why" the Obama DoJ would replace the Stars and Stripes with the scribblings of a hard-left globalist.

So yet another nail gets hammered into the Goracle's super-sized coffin. Seems a little "council" was put together to look into this IPCC/Hadley CRU kerfuffle; shake the tree a bit and see what fell out. The InterAcademy Council (IAC...the bureaucrats sure love them some acronyms don't they?) "which comprises the world’s top science academies including the UK’s Royal Society" had a look-see and concluded that not only were the IPCC's conclusions junk, they were junk founded upon shoddy science and political agenda.

In the immortal words of one Mr. Floyd, Pink....

It condemned the panel – set up by the UN to ensure world leaders had the best scientific advice on climate change – for its “slow and inadequate response” after the damaging errors emerged.

In yesterday’s report, the IAC said: “The IPCC needs to reform its management structure and strengthen its procedures to handle ever larger and increasingly complex climate assessments as well as the more intense public scrutiny"

So the IAC is telling the IPCC that it has no credibility..and that it's crappy, agenda-driven "consensus" has damaged the work of the real scientists who study the climate. Oh and that it was "slow and inadequate" in dealing with the fall-out from being caught making this crap up as they went along. Well you can kinda see how they couldn't really have responded in a timely manner....they were caught cheating and their entire Chicken Little-esque house of cards was exposed as a scam....how do you respond quickly to THAT?!

Still, reading the comments section of the article, you can see that the climate-changists have their useful idiots still manning the ramparts... "but the reports ALL say..... ALL the scientists agree.... " etc, ad nauseum. Anyone wanna bet that our government distances itself from the IAC sometime soon? Anyone?

Oh and the IAC piles on top of Dr Rajendra Pachauri. Who's he you ask? Only the poor, hard-working but mistreated climate science expert the UN has entrusted with running its IPCC....and by climate scientist I mean economist/railroad engineer!!!! Who, oh by the way, has business interests which stand to make a tidy fortune off of the whole "Global Warming" scam! Whaaa..conflict of interest? Nah...nothing to see here..move along....HEY!!! Finding wisdom in the most unexpected places

So I'm reading a newer science-fiction/fantasy type novel and I come across this passage, in the midst of all of the eerie mucking about by folks not of our world into the affairs of the novel's hero.....

"For the longest time we had peace and prosperity. People valued hard work and achievement. Most of us had a sense of the goodness of life. Over time, though, those kinds of things came to be seen as outmoded by more and more people who felt entitled to prosperity without effort. They resented being told their desires were a recipe for ruin.

There are always people like Radell Cain who are ready to take advantage of public resentment. He played on people's emotions by blaming everything on those who were still productive and prosperous, saying that they were uncaring and insensitive. People swooned at Cain's simplistic, populist notions. He made what was really nothing more than simple greed sound somehow morally righteous. He made taking what others had worked hard to earn sound like justice. People ate it up.

In the middle of unrest and difficult times, Cain won people over with promises of change- a new vision, a new direction. He made change sound like a miracle solution to all our problems. People mindlessly embraced the notion of change."

Sound familiar? And it's not like this is some no-name author, or a right-wing celebpenning a "fiction" book to promote a point of view. This is a New York Times -Bestselling Author (to quote the dust jacket); this book is a sort of continuation of a very long lived series in this genre. I just find it interesting that this bit of dialog appears in a mainstream book.

And it has another gem embedded in it. The plot develops, the evil meddlers from a "mirror" world (which may or may not have been connected to the earth at some point in the distant past) perpetrate all manner of deeds most foul, including a massive, co-ordinated diffuse terrorist attack on a global scale. The main female character, who is of course, madly smitten by our hero, decides that for the good of the many, the lead bad guy (the aforementioned Radell Cain) must be appeased. She offers him what he wants most...her surrender.

Our intrepid hero, predictably, decides that this course of action will not do, and sets about rescuing her. During the commission of said rescue, he utters the following....

"Jax, I'd rather die trying than let them have what they want. You can't bargain with evil. You can't appease it. You can't compromise with it.

Giving in to them now will only lead to endless suffering and death in the long run. How long until they decide they want more from this world and start to kill again to get it?"

Amazing....maybe I'll send a free copy of the book to the White house, with these passages high-lighted. But then again... the current occupant probably wouldn't get it!

As if ANYONE needed any further convincing exactly how large a pile of dung Charlie Crist is, there is this video (which I found of at AoS), wherein he, to quote Ace... "giggles like a schoolgirl" at the fact that he is keeping the money donated to his campaign by Republicans back when he thought he could win as a Republican.

I'm no lawyer, but isn't there some type of consumer protection law that should apply here? It's sort of like a bait and switch scheme.... Republican donors paid for a Republican candidate, but Metero-Chuck is sending them an "Independent". If I contract to buy something from any reputable retailer and they take my money and send me something else entirely, I'm protected. Best-Buy can't sell me an LED TV, take my money and then deliver a box of DVD Musicals. Why doesn't the same legal theory apply? And why does he look like a smarmy little bitch when he "giggles" about basically defrauding his campaign donors?

On a much more amusing note...

If you listen to the Tanned Turd-burglar speak, he calls his campaing the "People's Campaign". I know he's just trying to tap into a populist vibe (which pretty much sums up his whole career..."governing" by populism instead of principle), but it sounds too much like the "People's Repblic of..." or old-school "We the Living" style commie-jibberish.

Oh and since anyone who has an ounce of class or a shred of common decency has long since jumped the good ship Crist, he's apparently left with the friends and family plan for running his campaign! Too bad his parents look like they're VERY dissapionted in their boy at this shin-dig.

Now I know this happened in Sweden, which is a Euro-weenie utopia, but for those of you that think this sort of shite can't happen here in the good old US of A...think again. In the last two years we've seen the entire infrastructure of our society backpedal furiously away from any whiff of a hint that might link terrorism and the Religion of Piss.... oops...Peace. We are not fighting a "War on Terror" any longer; in fact terrorism ceased to exist upon the coronation of Chairman MaObama...now we just have "man-caused disasters"! The MSM won't even give an accurate description of the "suspects", for fear we the unwashed masses will put two and two together and figure out that the latest young, middle-eastern male who committed a mass-killing might just have revered a certain pedophillic "prophet"! We are told over and over and OVER ad nauseum that Islam is really a peaceful religion, and it's just a few, misguided miscreants giving them all a bad name. Bollocks to that...but more to the point, the groundwork has been laid for just this type of "expression" here in the US. Watch for it!

Second.... the extreme thin-skinnedness of these (and ALL) Muslims kinda reminds me of our little President just a tad. Criticize anything about Islam, and you get death threats and the kind of behavior depicted in this video. (By the way...nice mouth on the "lady" in the striped shirt..it's always helpful, when trying to win a debate sparked by religion to call the cops "cunt"! Expert wants coal-burning plants shut.

Global warming theorists have been stinging from allegations of shaky science in recent months, but warming advocates in this state have not cooled their ardor.

Bummer for the poor liars and their sycophants, that the facts about the AGW "science" sting and all. But we can't have a little stinging admission of scientific shenanigans and massive FRAUD derail our HOLY and most SACRED mission to SAVE! EARTH! NOW!!!, can we? Oh heck no!

N.C. Waste Awareness and Reduction Network, a Durham group that opposes nuclear power and coal-burning power plants, warned Monday that the planet could become uninhabitable for humans if we don't put a lid on greenhouse gas emissions.

Uninhabitable, do you hear me?! UN! INHABIT! ABLE!!! So they oppose both the eeeevil coal-burners AND the "cleaner" (from a supposed "Climate Change" perspective), but still EEEE-Vil Nukes. Wonder if they'll tell us what kind of energy they DO support?! And just who is this expert?! Hmmmmm.....it's got to be somebody who is just steeped in learning about "climate science", or geology, or meteorology, or physics, or biology ...right?! No? Blackburn will testify that the state can shut down all of its coal-burning power plants in 15 years and meet all its energy needs through a combination of solar energy, wind power, cogeneration and energy efficiency. Cogeneration is the practice of recycling waste heat to generate electricity or heat.

Suuure Blackie.....and I bet you think ObamaCare is "Deficit-neutral" too don't you?! Ummm a couple of "minor" points.... what do you use as a heat source for your vast fleet of "co-generation" .... seeing as how you don't like coal or nukes? Natural Gas plants? Let's leave the act that NG plants STILL PRODUCE the earth-murdering "greenhouse gasses" (at albeit lower levels), but you are basically giving the gas companies a monopoly on NC's electric production capacity! Somebody check this douche-nozzle's 401k portfolio!

Oh wait....he wants to get it from "wind and sun" too. So ... Geitner-lite, what do you suggest the good citizenry of NC do when the wind isn't blowin' and the sun ain't shinin'.... you do realize that the sun shines on the opposite side of the earth for roughly half of each day, don't you? Perhaps a science class or two along the way would've helped here, brainiac!

Blackburn's claim that it can all be replaced with green energy resources vastly exceeds the state goal of 12.5 percent by 2021.

100% of NC's electric needs generated by means OTHER than coal or nuclear within, what was that figure...oh yeah, 15 years. Let's think about that for a second. According to the DOE's 2008 report

130,054,113 MWh, of which only 27% comes from "acceptable" sources (Non-nuclear, non-"dirty"..ie coal/oil...fueled plants ) If you take away all generation that contributes ANY greenhouse gasses (the 20% from Natural Gas fired plants), only 7% of current electricity requirements of the Tarheel state come from "green" sources. And this clown posits that we can do away with 93% of the generation capacity and replace it with unproven technologies in the next 15 years?!

Ok..let's put Mr. Blackburn on more familiar footing. Being an economist and all, I wonder if he's taken a look at the COST of doing this, even if it were POSSIBLE...which it's NOT!!! How is NC going to pay for the roughly 120 million MILLION watts of new, EXPENSIVE, clean generation? As I said before, besides handing the Natural Gas traders a monopoly on an entire state's electric production capacity, how much of a burden does he want to impose on each and every citizen and business in the state? And for what? To combat a make-believe crisis?

Duke Energy calls Blackburn's estimates reckless, unrealistic and "so flawed as to be completely unreliable," in a filing with the commission.

That is a mastery of understatement. I would've called him on being batshit crazy! Oh wait...I think I just did!!!

This lovely lass is Megan Barnes.

Ms Barnes has a special claim to fame. She has been named Florida's "Pubic Enemy #1". It seems that Ms. Barnes, an Indiana native was driving on that loooooooonnnnnnnggggg bridge to the Keys that everyone has seen. She was headed down to meet up with her boyfriend. Strangely, her travelling companion for this little jaunt was her ex-hubby. Yeah.....the ex husband is riding shotgun so Ms. Barnes can make a booty call in Key West! And that's not even the strange part!

The ever resourceful Meg must've been all in a rush to get to her destination. So much so, in fact that she neglected certain matters of personal hygiene usually attended to while luxuriating in a hot bubble bath....or in the shower...or at the very least in a "salon" where a sadistic little oriental gal will rip away the winter wool for you. But NOOOO, none of that for our little Meg. She decided that the best place to trim up her little Chewbacca was behind the wheel, tooling down the highway WHILE HER EX HELD THE WHEEL so she could concentrate on the "delicate" areas!!! What. The. Heck. ?!?

Not too surprisingly, cuz ...back me up on this one fellas...if you've seen one woman naked, you pretty much want to see them ALL naked, the EX was a bit distracted by the sight of the muffin that so recently had been on his breakfast plate (and was soon to be some other schlep's blue plate special) being rendered into a remarkable likeness of Kojak. When the SUV in the lane ahead of them braked to make a turn.....KA-POW! The T-bird plowed right into the back of it! When the cops finally got her to admit that she'd been driving, her excuse for not stopping when the car ahead of her slowed.... "I told you I was shaving."

Somehow I'm thinking the mug-shots of the offending body part will show up on AlGore's inner-tubz someday soon! And why do I think online dating had something to do with this....or maybe Craigslist?

More "science" from the IPCC...and by "science" I mean LIES!

With the IPCC is under fire yet AGAIN, the question becomes why is ANYONE putting ANY stock whatsoever in anything this bunch of knothole-raping hippies says? Last week it was "discovered" that the claims this so-called expert panel have woven into the political discourse regarding the imminent melt-off of the Himalayan glaciers (quite likely by 2035) were...um......crap! Based on a SWAG (Stupid Wild Arsed Guess) which the mouth-breathers at IPCC formulated, apparently after drinking the old bong-water whilst reading a 1999 New Scientist magazine article, the UN swore by the petrified testicle of the Al-mighty Gorealce that if immediate action wasn't taken immediately to stop "global warming", all of the ice and snow ON FREAKING MOUNT EVEREST would be melted away by 2035. Dunder-heads in capitols throughout most of the world bought into this...after all the UN said it, and His Tubbiness concurred (he got a Nobel prize AND an Oscar you know).

So now I'm reading how the same brainiacs are in hot water for "wrongly" linking Global Warming to an increase in the number and severity of natural disasters, such as floods and hurricanes. The Times (UK) Online is running the following story.

Y'all can hop on over and partake of the sweet, sweet "I told ya so" goodness yourselves, but I'd be remiss in not pointing some of the more salient points:

" It(IPCC) based the claims on an unpublished report that had not been subjected to routine scientific scrutiny — and ignored warnings from scientific advisers that the evidence supporting the link too weak. The report's own authors later withdrew the claim because they felt the evidence was not strong enough. "

"When the paper was eventually published, in 2008, it had a new caveat. It said: "We find insufficient evidence to claim a statistical relationship between global temperature increase and catastrophe losses."

"It has also emerged that at least two scientific reviewers who checked drafts of the IPCC report urged greater caution in proposing a link between climate change and disaster impacts — but were ignored."

The academic paper at the centre of the latest questions was written in 2006 by Robert Muir-Wood, head of research at Risk Management Solutions, a London consultancy, who later became a contributing author to the section of the IPCC's 2007 report dealing with climate change impacts. He is widely respected as an expert on disaster impacts.

Let me interject here, Mr. Muir-Wood, the widely respected expert, was hired to do this research as part of a larger study for a Colorado University workshop on disaster losses in 2006. So he does this report, in which he finds basically NO INCREASE in disaster losses from 1950 to 2005 (the entire period of his study), once growth (the rising number of people who both desired to, and became able to afford to, live near the beach) was accounted for. He did note a slight 2% increase during the period of 1970 to 2005, which corresponded with a period of increasing temperatures (forget for a minute that 1998 was the last year global temperatures actually rose). HOWEVER, he clearly stated that MOST of this increase could be attributed to the "active" 2004 and 2005 Hurricane Seasons, among other things (like the fact that the strong US dollar meant that any disaster affecting the US would invariably skew the results toward a "larger" global price-tag)

The IPCC decided to only use the part of Muir-Wood's report dealing with the 1970-2005 time frame, and IGNORED the caveats in the report itself, to claim PROOF.....SCIENTIFIC PROOF....that global warming was causing more, and more costly disasters.

The Colorado U team, meanwhile, published a statement agreeing that so far there was no evidence to link global warming with any increase in the severity or frequency of disasters. It's chairman, Roger Pielke, professor of environmental studies at Colorado University, also an expert on disaster impacts, not only correctly identified the non-issue "exposed" in Muir-Wood's report, but called the IPCC out for cherry-picking the data.

What does the IPCC have to say?

"We are reassessing the evidence and will publish a report on natural disasters and extreme weather with the latest findings. Despite recent events the IPCC process is still very rigorous and scientific." - Professor Jean-Pascal van Ypersele, Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium climatologist, who is vice-chair of the IPCC.

OOOOOO-kaaaay! Rigorous and Scientific! But if it's soooooo rigorous, then why does this guy say this?

Science is progressive. If something turns out to be wrong we can fix it next time around.” However he confirmed he would be introducing rigorous new review procedures for future reports to ensure errors were kept to a minimum. - Professor Christopher Field,director of the Department of Global Ecology at the Carnegie Institution in California, who is the new co-chairman of the IPCC working group overseeing the climate impacts report.

The IPCC's process is soo very rigorous and scientifically sound that the new HMIFIC is instituting new, more rigorous and science-y processes to ensure that errors are kept to a minimum! Reminds me of the opening credits to Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

"We apologize for the previous scientific process. Those responsible for the sacking of those responsible,have themselves just been sacked." IPCC

Big Deal Shifty, you're probably saying...who cares? Well, I do. And so should you. Unless you WANT to forfeit both your standard of living (things like lights, heat, air-conditioning...anything run by electricity) AND your money. As the Times points out, the IPCC's totally made-up claim "has since become embedded in political and public debate. It was central to discussions at last month's Copenhagen climate summit, including a demand by developing countries for compensation of $100 billion (£62 billion) from the rich nations blamed for creating the most emissions." 100 Billion is a lot of cash. Now factor in the moron politicians here and abroad that are clamoring for action NOW to combat Global Warming, and the "action" they propose. Cap and Tax? Won't slow GW one whit. Won't even bankrupt coal like Obama promised to do. All it will do is make YOU and I shell out more and more money to the Government, funnelled through our local power company and gas stations.

Letting the EPA regulate CO2, because that same agency has "determined" that CO2 is a hazard to humans? Ummm... did the nuns at St. Pat's lie to me in science when they told me that plants NEED CO2 to live? Where the hell is the Sierra Club on this one....the EPA wants to kill all plant life! And as far as the EPA's ability to regulate anything....let's just say I remain singularly unimpressed by them...and my job requires me to deal with that agency on a regular basis. I once worked at a municipal power plant on the banks of the Detroit River. The windows on our turbine deck looked out over the river to the sprawling Great Lakes Steel. The local EPA dweeb had his office in a strip mall less than a mile from the plant, with HIS windows looking at our three smokestacks. I can't count the number of times I'd field a call from him, demanding to know why he saw a light grayish haze coming out of our stack, then walk right out on the turbine deck, look northward and watch a noxious green, or rust-orange, or yellow cloud of smoke roll off the steel mill, obscuring it from view! (And just a little tidbit of info....a light grayish haze coming out of a fossil-fuel fired power plants stack is called "economy haze" and it indicates that the plant is actually emitting LESS pollutants than a totally clear stack!)

Bottom line is this: if we remain silent and let the hockey-helmeted politicians drive the short bus off the Global Warming prevention cliff, we have nobody but ourselves to blame. I, for one, LIKE my big-screen Plasma TV, 4 home computers and keeping the house a comfortable 72 degrees F all year long! How about you?

So I was sitting in the "library" before work today (don't judge....it's a loooong drive from home to work), perusing the odd assortment of reading materials collected therein, and came across Glenn Beck's mug on the cover of Time rag-azine. Being the naturally curious type, I wanted to see what the libtardia thinks of Mr. Beck...or more accurately, what they had the stones enough to put in print about him. Climategate just got much, much bigger. And all thanks to the Russians who, with perfect timing, dropped this bombshell just as the world’s leaders are gathering in Copenhagen to discuss ways of carbon-taxing us all back to the dark ages.

A discussion of the November 2009 Climatic Research Unit e-mail hacking incident, referred to by some sources as “Climategate,” continues against the backdrop of the abortive UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen (COP15) discussing alternative agreements to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol that aimed to combat global warming.
The incident involved an e-mail server used by the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, East England. Unknown persons stole and anonymously disseminated thousands of e-mails and other documents dealing with the global-warming issue made over the course of 13 years.
Controversy arose after various allegations were made including that climate scientists colluded to withhold scientific evidence and manipulated data to make the case for global warming appear stronger than it is.
Climategate has already affected Russia. On Tuesday, the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) issued a report claiming that the Hadley Center for Climate Change based at the headquarters of the British Meteorological Office in Exeter (Devon, England) had probably tampered with Russian-climate data.
The IEA believes that Russian meteorological-station data did not substantiate the anthropogenic global-warming theory. Analysts say Russian meteorological stations cover most of the country’s territory, and that the Hadley Center had used data submitted by only 25% of such stations in its reports. Over 40% of Russian territory was not included in global-temperature calculations for some other reasons, rather than the lack of meteorological stations and observations.
The data of stations located in areas not listed in the Hadley Climate Research Unit Temperature UK (HadCRUT) survey often does not show any substantial warming in the late 20th century and the early 21st century.
The HadCRUT database includes specific stations providing incomplete data and highlighting the global-warming process, rather than stations facilitating uninterrupted observations.
On the whole, climatologists use the incomplete findings of meteorological stations far more often than those providing complete observations.
IEA analysts say climatologists use the data of stations located in large populated centers that are influenced by the urban-warming effect more frequently than the correct data of remote stations.
The scale of global warming was exaggerated due to temperature distortions for Russia accounting for 12.5% of the world’s land mass. The IEA said it was necessary to recalculate all global-temperature data in order to assess the scale of such exaggeration.
Global-temperature data will have to be modified if similar climate-date procedures have been used from other national data because the calculations used by COP15 analysts, including financial calculations, are based on HadCRUT research.

What the Russians are suggesting here, in other words, is that the entire global temperature record used by the IPCC to inform world government policy is a crock.

I'm sure this will all be expained away by the "experts" as some sort of evil trick of Putin. Or that the Russian's aren't all that smart, or whatever...the fact of the matter remains that "scientific consensus" was never either......

Hmmmm.....CO2 is "harmful" to humans, according to the EPA. Doesn't that make plants some sort of evil genius slave masters.....getting us stupid humans to develop all of this industrial know-how just to jack up those CO2 levels? Navy Seals Accused of Assaulting Murderer of 4 Blackwater USA Security Guards

Lt. Col. Holly Silkman, spokeswoman for the special operations component of U.S. Central Command, confirmed Tuesday to FoxNews.com that three SEALs have been charged in connection with the capture of a detainee. She said their court martial is scheduled for January.

United States Central Command declined to discuss the detainee, but a legal source told FoxNews.com that the detainee was turned over to Iraqi authorities, to whom he made the abuse complaints. He was then returned to American custody. The SEAL leader reported the charge up the chain of command, and an investigation ensued.

The source said intelligence briefings provided to the SEALs stated that “Objective Amber” planned the 2004 Fallujah ambush, and “they had been tracking this guy for some time.”

The Fallujah atrocity came to symbolize the brutality of the enemy in Iraq and the degree to which a homegrown insurgency was extending its grip over Iraq.

Absolutely beyond the pale of incredulity! And you bet your backside, this is the result of a cowardly regime in both the white house and the Pentagon.

Well we're officially one step closer to communism! Seems the "pay czar" appointed by Chairman Maobama has decided how much is the appropriate level of compensation for the executives running some of America's largest financial institutions. Since these companies took the TARP handouts (and can't pay them back yet!), they opened themselves up to this type of control by the government. And it's happening in other industries too!

Recently, the Florida Public Service Commission recieved a request from "consumer advocacy groups" to force the Florida utility companies to disclose the compensation of their "most highly paid" employees. The request asked that the utilites provide info on anyone making over $165,000 per year. The anti-utility groups want to create the impression that if the electric companies would just stop paying their employees so much, they wouldn't have raise rates. The utilities argued (correctly IMO) that disclosing this information would put them at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to attracting/retaining the needed talent. The PSC, bowing to political pressure, ruled in favor of disclosure. As of now the utilities are trying to get this overturned by the courts.

The problem with these kinds of developments should be obvious. First, with the TARP comapnies, since when in AMERCIA does the government set wages for privately owned companies? Although I suppose the government DOES own a big chunk of those companies...making them quasi-govermental institutions. Do you really think that the CEO of any of these companies is going to be motivated to continue to lead that company forward at 10% of his former salary....and half of his former total compensation? I'm willing to bet they jump ship in droves! And then what? Do we really want the kind of folks the reduced compensation would draw running our financial institutions?! And for those who think they can't do any worse, I have one word.....CONGRESS!!!

More importantly, I believe this to be only the beginning of wage control. Right now it's CEOs. Or it's just disclosing the salries of the "most highly compensated" utility employees. Anyone want to bet that the "disclosure" turns into a mandate to reduce salaries in order to get a favorable ruling on an pending rate increase? And after the "most highly compensated" employees have already been sacrificed to political posturing, and precedent has been set, how long until we have the PSC (or some other governmental panel) deciding how much ALL utility employees are allowed to earn? With the exception of the unionized workers, of course! So do you want your electric company to only be able to recruit it's talent from the pool of candidates who are willing to work for the pittance allowed by a governmental body?

I hesitate to employ the slippery slope argument, but....given the lust for power that is being demonstrated on a daily basis by the current crop of pols, and the class-envy/warfare tactic employed by the left to great success, it's a valid argument IMO. I envision a not too distant future where the most absurd-sounding Randian scenarios have come to pass. The only question is...who is Wesley Mouch?

The lack of jail time angered the family of the victim, who was seriously injured. But the defendant's attorney says the case is not so clear-cut — that his client got injured, too.
George S. Hall, 64, pleaded no contest to a charge of battery on a person over age 65, and adjudication was withheld, said his defense attorney, Roger Futerman.
"He didn't feel he was wrong, but he wanted to get the case behind him," Futerman said.
According to an arrest report by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Hall was upset with the 83-year-old Snyder on July 3 because he believed Snyder cut him off as he drove his motorcycle near the intersection of Gulfport Boulevard and Pasadena Avenue.
Deputies said Hall followed Snyder to Palms of Pasadena Hospital, then attacked him. Snyder was going there to visit his wife, who was recovering from a pacemaker replacement.
During the scuffle, Snyder pulled out a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and fired, striking Hall in the upper arm.
Deputies did not charge Snyder, who had a concealed weapons permit, saying he acted in self-defense.
The State Attorney's Office agreed that Hall should receive some jail time, said Assistant State Attorney Brian Daniels. But Hall's lack of a criminal record meant he did not qualify for mandatory incarceration. He was sentenced by Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Timothy Peters.
Nathan Snyder, a Holocaust survivor who retired to St. Petersburg from Philadelphia in 1984, suffered a fractured hip, spent nearly a month hospitalized and has had two surgeries. He needs a walker to get around, Lydia Snyder said, and has been having nightmares and panic attacks.
Through his attorney, Hall declined to be interviewed. But Futerman said his client refutes Snyder's version of events.
"He felt that when this dispute happened that Mr. Snyder overreacted, and that Mr. Snyder shouldn't have been carrying a loaded gun with 13 rounds of ammunition," Futerman said. "My guy got shot, and he felt that Mr. Snyder should have been charged with attempted murder."

So Mr. Hall gets his lil' biker panties in a wad because an oldster did what they USUALLY do, which is drive like crap. Truth be told, the biker was probably speeding, tailgating and/or crowding the lane marker...like they usually do! Instead of a rude gesture, or yelling at the guy, what does the tough biker dude do? Follows the old guy to a hospital parking lot and beats the crap out of him! Since the old guy, in full compliance with Florida law, shot him in the arm, now Missus Hall thinks the old guy should be tried with attempted murder?!?! For defending himself from a raging biker some two decades his junior? Puh-Leaze!

As I told some of the bikers who wrote in to the paper in support of their "bro": a) People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...bikers are by far the biggest hazard to their own safety by the way they drive, and b) One of the given hazards of riding a motorcycle in Florida is the "seasoned" drivers. If you wanna take that risk, do so...but don't beat up the old folks for driving like....well, old folks! And when the old guy you're using as a punching bag pulls out a 9mm and shoots you, don't compound your already un-manly behavior by whining about it later!
And Judge Peters, you are correct that Mr. Hall didn't qualify for mandatory incarceration....but you could have locked him up anyway! Thanks a ton!

Now I get that the employment situation in Detroit stinks, and people are in need. BUT..those very same people are largely to blame for the state of their city, their state and now their nation! THEY are the ones who have voted for wealth destroying liberal democrats for a couple of generations! THEY voted in Kwame Kilpatrick....TWICE! THEY made it possible for the Canadian dimwit to become governor (and drive the Michigan economy right off the cliff..big props Jenny!) THEY have continued to send morons like Debbie Stabenow, Carl Levin and John Conyers to Washington to "represent" Michigan. THEY helped the Magic Marxist get elected. All because....why? Strongly held ideals they share with those they chose to govern them? A clear philosophy that liberal democrats truly have the best course forward for their city, state or country? I doubt it! Too much evidence points to the fact that they are willing to cast their vote first by skin color, followed closely by the "stuff" a candidate promises to give them for "free".

Adventures in Commuting

Considering I live about an hour's drive from work, I spend a good deal of time commuting. Normally this is no more than a minor inconvenience. Today...not so minor.

I'm fully aware that it's getting into the dreaded snow-bird season here, and gird my loins each time I step out of the house for THAT slice of heaven right here on earth. Nothing like driving behind a ginormous Buick Roadmaster that appears to be piloted by a pair of knuckles and a blue bouffant to liven up the day...or make you late for work. I've even come to admire the bravado and sheer chutzpah of some of our "seasoned" drivers. Not everyone can just decide they need to turn NOW and deftly cut across three lanes of traffic at 15 mph, oblivious to the screaming tires and rending metal they leave in their wake. Nosiree Bob..THAT is a skill!!

But since it's only October, and the season has just begun, I really didn't expect too much excitement on my journey today. Oh but I was wrong. First I'm following a newish SUV down the highway at 60 mph (this is my story and if I wanna maintain I was abiding by each and every traffic law I can!). She was going slightly slower, and just as I contemplated getting over to go around her, she threw on her blinker to get into the turn lane. "Excellent" I thought to myself, since I really didn't want to be bothered with all of the checking my blind spot and signalling crap that changing lanes entails. When you work 12 hr shifts, you learn to conserve your energy. So she starts to get into the right hand turn lane.....BUT ONLY 3/4 OF THE WAY!!! Must I remind you that I'm doing somewhere around 65 here, not braking at all when she MASHES! her!brakes! Have you ever seen a Silverado do an "endo"? Good times!

And it just got better from there. The Mrs and I have long played the "drunk or talking on a cell phone" guessing game with crappy drivers; I'm betting some of these clowns were drunk, talking on the cell phone and eating Moo Goo Gai Pan today! My personal fave was the lady who just couldn't put the MAGAZINE down long enough to actually drive. It appeared to be one of those Enquirer/Star/Weekly World News type rags, so maybe she was just trying to get updated on John Edwards' love child, or find out if the Magic Marxist is really gay, but fer cripes sake...at 55 mph going three wide around a curve?!?! Shouldn't there be some type of process whereby only people with the knowledge and demonstrable skill to operate a vehicle are sanctioned to do so?
Just sayin'!
Thank goodness my drive home takes place before all the mouth-breathers come to!

Back in the saddle

So I spent the last two weeks doing a whole lot of nothin'...Mom came down to visit and we just hung out. Thank goodness the novelty of me living in Florida has worn off...no "touristy" agenda this trip! Mom brought along a study of the book of Revelation she is doing through her (Catholic) church, and we spent hours each day working through that. Oh man, do I have questions about the way THAT study was presented!

I also read a book called "Season of Life" by Jeffery Marx. It chronicles a football season for a high school team coached by ex-Colt Joe Erhmann. One of the themes of the book is that this football team incorporates the philosophies of Rev. Ehrmann's Building Men for Others program. It's a quick read, and I highly recommend it, not least of all because it prompted me to evaluate my life thus far on the basis of this program's ideas.

I watched a bunch of football, officially aged another year, took my youngest daughter to a "haunted" zoo (and I'm aching for the day she stops being too afraid to go to the REAL haunted attractions!) and went to an AFROTC community-service project meeting with my oldest daughter. What I did NOT do was watch much news...probably a good thing! They gave Obama a Nobel Peace Prize?!?! REALLY?!?

So now I'm back, catching up on the events of the day, and will have more to say, especially on this whole "study" I did.....

That any time I comment on a thread that has anything remotely to do with religion, I end up being vilified? Here I stop by American Thinker and weigh in on both of the threads regarding the late, not-so-great Senator Chappaquidick, and all of the sudden I'm being accused of cherry-picking scripture to support my heinous anti-catholic views by a guy who insists on quoting exclusively from James and Matthew to refute my arguments regarding faith vs. works and the supposed primacy of the Roman Catholic Church! The same few scriptures. AND he deliberately (I think....although since he seems to maybe be a Priest it might be more a conditioned response) misrepresents the history of Martin Luther's part in the Reformation to make Luther appear just another horny, slacker reprobate who acted out of a desire to shuck his vows and hook up with this hot ex-nun he saw. Afterward he lectures me to exercise great care "against being suspicious of an explanation's veracity simply because it's been repeated unchangingly for a long time." He did offer the fact that he said the Nicene Creed in the original Latin this morning as supporting argument?! THEN he jumps to the other thread on Teddy K and posts a whining little missive about the horrible "anti-Catholic" "proof-texters" he is doing battle with on the first thread! What gives?!?!

Spiritual musings on a rainy afternnon...

I've been going back and forth with Certain People over at Brutally Honest regarding many things spiritual....ok well really mostly about Catholic vs. Protestant who has the "true" religion stuff. I might be reading more into it than I should, and probably contributing more snark than is called for, but there is something about the SNOTTY way people say (or type) Protestant, as if it's a disease of the nether region that unclean slatterns come down with, that really chaps my slatternly nether regions!

I truly believe that the religious stripe a person chooses matters not one whit when it comes to authentic Christianity. Living out the ideals Christ exemplified can be undertaken by anyone willing to turn over his/her life to Christ. And there are positive and negative examples in all flavors. Fred Phelps, Jim Jones, Ted Kennedy (heck any of 'em), Bill Clinton, Pope Alexander VI....FAIL! Pope John Paul II, Billy Graham, Tim Tebow, Brad Powell.....SUCCESS!

Something struck me about this, but I couldn't put my finger on it. So I put it on the back burner. Then, while recycling the gallon and a half of coffe I drank so far today, it hit me. You can re-arrange whichever denomination you want to show that ALL the others really just broke off from YOUR pure roots (although from a historical perspective....this one makes most sense). What it put me in mind of is this story:

Alright, since you've now seen that perhaps, just maybe, possibly the whole "global-warming", or "climate-change" thing is a tad over-hyped, you might be asking yourself why your local power company is advertising all these lovely new "green" initiatives. Why is it that every time you turn around it seems like the company you buy your electricity from is coming up with a new "program" or gadget to demonstrate their "green-ness"? The answer to that, in my opinion, is two-fold.
Who has read "Atlas Shrugged"? Remember the "businessmen" like Jim Taggart (the heroine Dagny's limp-wristed twit of a brother) and his ilk? Did it strike anyone else as strange that supposed captains of industry would throw their support entirely behind government programs that were virtually guaranteed to destroy the very industries they were "captaining"? Why would they do stupid stuff like that? It's just a story...in real life industry leaders would NEVER go along with crap like that. Not so. and here's why.
Once the knot-hole rapists (you KNOW who I'm talking about...the "environmentalists" who have gone beyond merely hugging the trees to.....well you know!) found a sort of non-whackjob spokesperson in the Goreacle (before he lost the 2000 election, his mind and the ability to push away from the buffet table) and the deep pockets of Mr. Soros, they made themselves a movie. As luck would have it, Mr. Gore's tragic decline from official Whitehouse campaign extorter to Jabba the Hut stand-in engendered sympathy from the liberal "elite" who decide what the "proper" social position is on a given subject. Whereas the environmental extremists had been relegated to the role of stinky, stoner hippie cousin in the liberal family tree, the confluence of Mr. Gore's personal misfortune, Mr. Soros' large bankbook and the EEEEVIL Bush/Republican/Big Business cabal coming into power suddenly rehabilitated the knot-holer's image.
Soon it was considered ESTABLISHED FACT that the most lunatic of the environmentalists' notions were gospel truth. AlGore said so! Then the TOTALLY impartial UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change published their "findings" (which curiously parroted the whack-o's findings!) and undertook a campaign to systematically destroy any and all who dared hold a dissenting view. For a while, debate was virtually silenced on the "science" of Global Warming. The lap-dogs of the MSM did their part, happily trumpeting every storm, flood, earthquake, drought, birth defect and outbreak of teen-age acne as PROOF!! PROOF I SAY!! that global warming was real and HUMANS were the culprit!
In this climate, most power companies found themselves castigated as unrepentant planet-murderers, so consumed by profit that they cared not one whit for the damage they did to Mother Earth in the process. Standing up to the nonsense, which would have been the logical, sensible and morally correct thing to do was deemed too big a risk, in a newly risk-averse post-Enron electric industry. So what happened? The Jim Taggarts of the world decided to agree that their industries were eeeevvvil polluters and nature-rapers. Whatever needed to be done, we will support, they said. Cost was no object (more on why in a sec..), the stated aims of the opposition to "destroy" traditional fossil-fueled power production didn't matter....all that mattered is that the power companies not be seen as reprobate where the epic battle for the very survival of planet earth was concerned! Can't have the public thinking we don't care about global warming...why they might just decide to get their power from......uh.....well, I don't know who, since we have a virtual monopoly on delivering their power, but they will be MAD at us!
So all these power companies have signed on to support every stupid new anti-GHG scheme that's bubbled out of the bong resin.
Some of these "solutions" are fantastically expensive. We're talking BILLIONS of dollars to retrofit a company's coal-fired generating fleet with equipment to reduce pollutants. But it's not the power company's money that pays for that...oh no. Wonder why you electric bill has been climbing? If you listen to the drooling horde, it's because we fat cats in the power industry are giggling all the way to the bank at your expense. Just RAKING in the profits, while Joe Six-pack works three jobs to keep the lights on and his 2.5 kids fed. In actuality, although we ARE guaranteed a certain profit (why this is so is another post...) the rising cost of electricity has more to do with the rising fuel costs and the expensive new doo-dads the gubmint done required your electric company to install on it's generating fleet.
Much like what happens when "corporate" tax rates are increased, costs associated with mandated upgrades to a utilities generating fleet are simply past along to the consumer....presto-chango you get a bigger electric bill. And because of the system in place, you tend to see all of the costs hit your bill at one time, instead of slowly accumulating over time. Most utilities also have a fuel clause, which allows them to charge consumers directly for the costs of the fuels the company uses to generate their power.
"But Shifty" I hear, " How come when oil prices dropped, my electric bill didn't go down?" First, you're electric company uses a variety of fuels, not just oil. So while oil prices might have gone down, what about the price of natural gas? Coal? How much of each fuel is used to produce your electricity? AND...think back....did you're electric bill go up each time the price of a barrel of oil closed the days trading at a new record high last summer? Obviously not....your power company enters into long-term fuel supply contracts to stabilize costs. Only AFTER the fuel has been used can a power company "true up" their actual fuel costs with projected fuel costs (which they use to establish the GOVERNMENT set price per kilowatt of electricity you pay). If the utility had to burn more (or more expensive) fuel to satisfy your gluttonous power cravings, it's only right that they should recoup that cost. If they end up paying less (because they either secured a cheaper fuel source or you used less energy), most utilities will rebate the savings to the customer.
All of this begs the question....wouldn't you the rate-paying electricity consumer benefit MORE from executives who are more concerned about what's good for their customers (which would be to tell the truth about "Global Warming" and stand against the costly initiatives to appease the moon-bat knot-holers) than about being politically correct? I'll let you be the judge!

Seeing as I've made my career in the electric industry, I could possibly be considered biased on the issue of the "global warming crisis". I would argue otherwise...and so would the good people at the Heritage Foundation. This is a link to a longish video produced by the Competitive Enterprise Institute that gives lie to the right Reverend Gore's claim that the "science is settled". I highly recommend it. Go watch it (at least through the video presentation...even I tunedout during the Q & A session afterward)...when you get back, we'll compare the "leaders" of today's power companies to James Taggart and his ilk!

It would seem our erstwhile British cousins are getting serious about battling the proliferation of fat kiddies inhabiting merry olde England. The solution? Why enroll the kids in a six week "fat camp" of course!

"PRIMARY school pupils as young as four will be offered places on “weight management” courses as the NHS urges health trusts to provide slimming programmes for overweight children."

So the NHS (the governing body that runs Britain's "Public Option" health care system) will now decide the appropriate weight for it's youngest citizens and "offer" parents the option of having little Dudders attend fat camp. Yeah that won't cause any emotional trauma....being officially labeled a lard-butt. So in later years they'll have to be treated for anorexia, bulimia, and a raft full of mental, social and psychological disorders that come about when a kid's weight is made an issue early in life. (And any takers on just how long until the "offered" spot in fat camp becomes MANDATORY?) This is the model we're supposed to emulate folks. When the government runs health care, the government gets to tell you how to live, eat, sleep, pee....anything that is REMOTELY connected to "health" will become their domain.

I was poking around over at Insta-pundit and came across a story about our glorious leader making the entirely unprecendented decision to chair the September 24th meeting of the UN Security Council. Bear in mind that NO President EVER has attempted this. Not during the Cuban Missle Crisis, not when Saddam invaded Kuwait....not after 9/11. NO. ONE. EVER. Not that I look for End Times prophecy in every current event, but geez....this seems a little One World Government to me. Besides that, a couple of things are tweaking me about this.

First, doesn't he have bigger fish to fry? Unemployment is nudging closer to double digits nationwide. His domestic agenda is tanking as good portions of the brain-dead 52% who elected him are wondering what the heck they've done to the country. He can't put together a strategy to fight the "Overseas Contingency Operation" against the perpetrators of "man-caused disasters" in Afghanistan, probably because they can't figure out how to lose the war and weaken the US and still blame Bush. We've been promised (or threatened with if you prefer)a new push to foist the European model of health "care" on America. He has to indoctrinate our kids live via simulcast (don't get me started!). None of his spendulous plans have quite worked out. But he's got time to waste at the UN?

Second, he is apparently intent on "modifying" the established agenda. Seems the meeting was supposed to deal with Iran and North Korea and their nuclear ambitions. Probably would have amounted to a big ol' waste of time. I picture the scene in Team America where Hans Blix tells Kim Jong Il that if he doesn't cooperate with the UN ..." Ve shall be very, very angry vis you. Und ve vill write you a nasty letter telling you how unhappy we are!" But the anointed one, President Barak Hussein Obama, (pbuh) has decided that the meeting really should deal with "nuclear nonproliferation and nuclear disarmament broadly, and not on any specific countries", according to Susan Rice (the American UN Ambassador...and shouldn't SHE be the one chairing the meeting?! What are we paying her for anyhow?!) Oh he doesn't want to deal with "specific countries" ....wonder why? The article discusses a few reasons, but to me this is the typical liberal dislike for accountability. Kinda like how the "experts" bemoan competitive sports because.....(gasp) someone LOSES! Just think how the non-winning team must FEEL! So we don't want to single out anyone....just talk about non-proliferation in general, non-specific terms. Oh and let's throw in disarmament....we gotta get nukes out of the hands of the Israelis for goodness sake. They might just USE them before Brother Ahmidinijad can put the finishing touches on HIS "peaceful nuclear power" projects. After all...he intends to share them with Israel just as soon as they are done!
